CMS market in October 2025: stability in the top 5, not so much in the rest

CMS market share

WordPress (WP) remains the clear king of the Internet although with a clear downward trend after an unusual growth spurt…

We are going to update the global CMS market share figures and since there is usually little month to month difference it is better to analyse the trends. WordPress (WP) remains the clear king of the Internet with 43,2% usage and more than 60% market share although in this latter figure it falls 0,2% month over month.

These are the October figures for the CMS market on the web according to W3Techs data.

Last month WP also declined by one tenth and if we look at the figures for the same month last year its usage stood at 43,5% and its market share at 62,5% so it is clear that there is a downward trend for a CMS that until recently was growing exponentially and now seems to have found its ceiling.

As for October stability reigns. The only exception is Shopify which gains 0,1% usage and Joomla which loses the same amount. Both figures are also consistent with the market trend of both CMS.

To make a year over year comparison these are the 2024 figures from the same source.

In the year over year comparison what stands out is the stability in the top five positions but mobility in the following ones. Adobe loses momentum from seventh to ninth position with a clear decline although at the same time it remains noteworthy since it is a CMS that is not exactly inexpensive.

Prestashop and Google disappear from the top 10 and Drupal and Webflow decline while new CMS enter strongly such as Tilda and Duda especially the former which reaches seventh position and very likely deserves a more in depth analysis by CMS MAG.

The year over year upward trend belongs to Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Tilda and Duda. The rest of the CMS unfortunately for them clearly show a downward trend that they are trying to reverse with new versions of the product as in the case of Joomla, with AI integration or with new approaches closer to low or no code as in the case of Drupal CMS.
