    Google’s latest decisions, given its de facto monopoly position in many digital domains, are starting to have consequences. The situation, in general, in the world of journalism at major outlets, with a few exceptions, is one of depression and weariness after the arrival of AI Overviews, the growing prominence of AI Mode, changes in Google Discover and the latest Google update, which has once again reduced traffic for many outlets in Google Search.

    A lot has happened since the launch of ChatGPT, a product that surprised insiders and outsiders on November 30, 2022 and changed the history of the internet forever. Even though some time has passed, even today we still have to point again to generative artificial intelligence (AI) as a trend for 2026. The reason is that its applications and implications are so many and so far reaching that they keep surprising us every year, which makes it impossible for it to drop off the list of predictions and trends for 2026.

Specifically in the latter category, in adoption and usage data, we find information about the most popular CMS in 2025 and, of course, WordPress is king.

    Headless CMS and DXP are not quite taking off for these reasons

    When choosing a CMS, many parameters must be considered. One of them is undoubtedly the choice between a traditional monolithic architecture, in which backend and frontend remain an inseparable marriage, or choosing the modern headless architecture. Opting for the latter has many advantages and some drawbacks, but it seems the market has not correctly perceived those advantages or has thought that the drawbacks are too great, since at CMS MAG we do not see a strong reception for headless in Spain.

    On LinkedIn we have come across several posts indicating that the Argentine outlet El Cronista, one of the most important in the economic field, is already operating with The Washington Post technology. It is a new client for Arc XP in Spanish speaking Latin America, a region where it has achieved wide adoption.

    Adobe acquires Semrush for 1.9 billion dollars.

    Adobe and Semrush Holdings have reached an agreement valued at 1.9 billion dollars for the services of the latter, a well known company that provides SEO and GEO search data to businesses and media outlets, to become part of the former. Adobe already has a large array of products aimed at marketing professionals.

    Dries Buytaert, the founder of Drupal, comments in his blog, which is always a source of great articles, on what he calls orchestration and how this is gaining importance in the marketing and technology sector. The key transformation is that the tech stack as such is losing centrality, since orchestration lets it behave like a network in which previously disconnected pieces of software can operate as connected nodes.

    We are going to update the global CMS market share figures and since there is usually little month to month difference it is better to analyse the trends. WordPress (WP) remains the clear king of the Internet with 43,2% usage and more than 60% market share although in this latter figure it falls 0,2% month over month.
